Cambridgeshire-based Turners has introduced the full range of DAF XB, XD, XF, XG and XG+ models across its fleet. The company covers multiple different transport services including temperature-controlled, bulk, container, tanker and fuel distribution.

Across the business, Tuners has more than 600 new generation DAF trucks and circa 600 trucks on order as new and replacement vehicles due to be delivered in 2025. Supplied by the DAF dealer, Chassis Cab, the Turners fleet comprises more than 2600 trucks, over 60% of which are DAF vehicles including new and older DAF models.

Group fleet engineer, Tim King, said: “While DAF continues to produce class-leading trucks, supported by the best dealer network in the industry, we’ll continue our partnership with this particular manufacturer. I think we’re unique in being the only fleet operator to run the complete DAF new generation range, demonstrating how important the DAF marque is in our fleet. The latest deliveries have the corner view system with the in-cab-mounted screen providing a much better view right around the corner of the vehicle at the passenger side, and it delivers a significant safety benefit.”

In 2003, Turners first introduced DAF’s FTP axle configuration to its fleet and has operated more than 1200 examples since. Now, Turners is Europe’s largest operator of DAF’s 6x2 FTP mid-lift tractor unit with more than 200 of the new generation DAF XF 450 model on the fleet. Given DAF’s prominence in Turners’ fleet, the company was part of the new generation pre-production field test programme.

Alongside its existing product portfolio, DAF is introducing electric versions of its models to help fleets reduce carbon emissions. So far, DAF has launched the XB Electric, targeted at city and regional distribution; the XD Electric, a larger regional distribution option; and the XF Electric capable of longer national haulage work.
