Continuing a longstanding relationship between the two companies, Asda Stores has put 35 new 4.9m tall ‘high cube’ trailers from Tiger Trailers into operation. The units will be used in the supermarket’s George clothing fleet and come with internal tail lifts to suit the job.
The Dhollandia platform is mounted to the side of the trailer so it can be used up and down the length of the unit. It has a carrying capacity up to 500kg. Longitudinal and vertical manoeuvres mean the 150 load-securing bars can be positioned to suit the internal roof mounted tracks and nine horizontal tracks fitted at various heights down each side of the trailer internally.
Gavin Town, senior manager – national fleet for Asda Stores, said: “The Tiger team visited our site a number of times and truly listened to our needs and have delivered the goods with these high cube trailers. We would like to thank them for their attention to detail and the continued support they show us as a business.”
Additional customisations to the high cube trailers include an internal step for safer access to the neck area, safety gates on the moving platform, a Nexus ground-level coupling, Axscend tyre pressure monitoring and external heat treatment paint for the roof.
Darren Holland, sales director at Tiger Trailers, said: “We always relish the opportunity to demonstrate our ability to design, engineer and manufacture bespoke vehicles to suit our customers’ unique operations and are delighted to have worked with the Asda team on these garment transportation trailers.”
Alongside this latest batch of trailers, Tiger Trailers is building 90 moving deck trailers for Asda. Once these units are delivered the supermarket will be operating a fleet of more than 500 Tiger Trailer units. The new George trailers will be based out of the company’s facilities in Brackmills, Limedale, and Washington NEC.
